Parent's Prayer for Monday

It's Day 8 of the Jamboree. The word via texts and scarce phone calls from our scouts is that their scouting spirit is ON FIRE! I think we can expect to see some great things from our boys as a direct result of this transformative life experience that is a Jamboree. Today we pray that our scouts can take that scouting spirit and redirect it from helping oneself to helping others.

A Scout is Helpful. A Scout cares about other people. He willingly volunteers to help others without expecting payment or reward.

This Jamboree staff photo journalist has some terrific insights about being helpful.

"Like the MP who was once a Scout and now works to protect our freedom, the Scouts at the National Jamboree will go on to be come leaders in society. Their Scouting experience develops their ability to be effective citizens, and enhances their contributions to their communities. They become helpful."

Each one should use whatever gift he has received to serve others, faithfully administering God's grace in its various forms.  1 Peter 4:10 (NIV)
